Earth-Our mother land|Technospace

The Earth is the fifth largest planet in our solar system. It is the only presently known planet in our solar system to support life. It is around 4.6 billion years old. It is the third planet from the Sun.

●Earth is composed of three layers: a core, a mantle and an outer crust. Core is the innermost layer, and is about 2600 kms thick. The middle layer, which is about 2900 kms thick. Crust is the outermost layer measuring only 8 to 10 kms.

● Earth's innercore is a hot ball of solid iron. It is surrounded by a layer of liquid iron, then a thick, rocky mantle. The uttermost layer is a thin rocky shell known as crust. Nickel and Iron are the elements found in the core of the Earth.

● The Earth has only ine satellite, the Moon. The Moon is the second brightest object in the sky when seen from Earth.

● The Earth's atmosphere is composed mainly of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and many more gases. The atmosphere is divided into five layers - Troposphere, Statosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere, and Exosphere.
