Nebula- The formation and destruction of stars|Technospace

A nebula is an enormous cloud of dust and gas occupying the space between stars and acting as a nursery for new stars. Nebula happens due to the destruction of stars which led ro the formation of stars also. So it is also known as the mother of stars. The roots of the word come from Latin nebula, which means a “mist, vapor, fog, smoke, exhalation.” Nebulae are made up of dust, basic elements such as hydrogen and other ionized gases.

There are many kinds of nebula in space.

  • Hourglass Nebula situated in the southern constellation, Musca is about 8,000 light-years away from Earth.
  • A Ring Nebula in Lyra which is 2,000 light-years away from Earth.
  • The Trifid Nebula is a bright nebula, whose colours are caused by hot, glowing gases.
  • Eskimo Nebula is a planetary nebula discovered by William Herschel. A planetary nebula is formed when a dying sun sized star begin to shed its outer layers.
  • The Orion Nebula is roughly 30 light years in diameter.
  • A Reflection Nebula glows as the dust in it reflect the light of nearby stars.
  • Eagle Nebula consists of hydrogen gas and are about 7,000 light-years from Earth.
